Will we ever catch a break?

Well, we went and saw the dietitian on Wed. When we got there, she informed us that Justin was also allergic to corn Even though the blood work showed all the allergies, there is a possibility he can still have them but until we find out what the problem is, we have to take all that out of his diet. After two weeks, we can add something and go for a week to see how it goes, then add another and so on until we hit the food that is causing the problems.

Now, she pointed us in the direction she wanted us to go but admitted she couldn't be much help in telling us what he could have besides just saying corn, wheat, soy, milk and peanuts and that we would have to read a lot of labels. Before we left, she told Justin that she normally didn't tell kids this but he could have all the popsicle, pop and candy he wanted. She told us good luck because she knew there were staples that we wouldn't be able to find and he would have to go w/out.

After seeing her, we had to take him in for more blood work and then off to the nature food store. Frustration hit with in the first few minutes. I would find something and then get to the end of the list and there was something he couldn't have. Basically he's stuck w/ a lot of rice based foods. At the nature food store, we only managed to find bread (little loaf $7.00), half a box of cereal ($5.00) box of 6 waffles ($8.00).

We went to the store after and hit the health food section. It was a total freaking nightmare. We did however find some things for him. We even found some canola mayonnaise (she said there wasn't any) at the store for $2.50 (health food store had it for $8.00). Anyways, we were making progress or so we thought.. lol

The next morning I fixed him his waffle and went to grab the syrup and read the label and sure enough, there was corn syrup, so he couldn't have it. He ended up putting honey on his waffle. After breakfast he grabbed a popsicle (his grandpa keeps him stalked up). I had to take kids to the dentist after breakfast and while sitting there waiting, I had the thought (bear w/ me, I'm slower then usual) that there was corn syrup in his popsicles. So as soon as I got home I checked and sure enough, it's there. I decided to call the dietitian since she said he could have those things but sure enough, she was wrong to, said she was getting ready to call me.

Anyhoo.. another trip to the store. I did find syrup but it was $10.00 and so I decided to try and make my own. He doesn't like strawberries but since I let him help use the blender he promised to try it. I lucked out because he loved it. We also found some all fruit popsicles. That one made him really, really happy. As for the pop, diet pop don't have corn syrup and so he can have that.

We are however going back into the Dr on Mon. They called us Thurs and said the liver enzymes were higher then they've ever been. Eric had a brother die of liver problems when he was only 6 mo old and so this liver thing has got me freaked out. If Eric's mom and dad could remember a little more, if they knew more of what was wrong then it would help. The Dr doesn't know if one of the allergies could be causing the problem or not. The dietitician wants us to have them check for celiac's disease. If the blood work comes out positive then he has to have a biopsy done of his intestines but if he does have that, then that's a gluten allergy.

We also found out this weekend he is allergic to bees. He got stung on the middle finger and his finger and hand swelled up like a balloon.

Also, while swimming at Heise, Braiden broke out. He did it the last time we took him swimming at the college. So I'm guessing he's got an allergy to chlorine.. WTH!?
